SEO for naturopaths

If your clinic isn’t showing up when someone nearby searches, it isn’t because Google missed you. It’s because there’s nothing on your website telling Google what you do, where you do it, or why you’d be the right answer.

What's usually going on

A clinic that can’t be found almost always has the same four things wrong at once.

The Google Business Profile is claimed but never built out, no services listed, no photos since 2022, no posts, half the categories missing. That listing is what feeds the map results, and map results are where most local searches end up before anyone scrolls to the regular listings.

The website has five pages. Home, about, services, fees, contact. Every service the clinic offers is crammed onto one page, which means none of them can rank for anything, because a page about eleven things is a page about nothing.

Nothing on the site was written with keyword research behind it. The pages describe what the clinic wants to say rather than what people search for, and those are rarely the same words.

And underneath it, the technical layer nobody looks at, slow load times, no page titles worth reading, missing headings, a sitemap that was never submitted.

What actually fixes it

Some of this you can do yourself this week, for free. Start there.

Claim and finish your Google Business Profile. Every category that applies. Every service listed individually. Real photos of the actual clinic. Hours that are correct. This is the highest-return hour of local SEO work available to any clinic and it costs nothing.

Give each service its own page. If you offer six things, that’s six pages, each one written properly. This single change does more for a clinic’s rankings than almost anything else, because it turns one weak page into six pages that can each rank.

Check your site on a phone. Most of your traffic is mobile. If it takes more than three seconds to load or the booking button is hard to hit, fix that before spending anything on SEO.

Past that, local SEO gets more involved, citation consistency across directories, on-page optimization, internal linking, schema markup, technical clean-up, and content built around what people actually search. That’s the part worth handing off.

What we do

01

Keyword research specific to your services and your catchment, what people near you actually type, and which of those you can realistically win.

02

Local SEO, Google Business Profile build-out and management, citation cleanup, review strategy where your regulations permit it, local landing pages if you have multiple locations.

03

On-page SEO across every service page, titles, headings, structure, internal links, content.

04

Technical SEO, site speed, mobile performance, crawlability, schema, Core Web Vitals.

05

Content, service pages and articles that keep earning rankings after the work stops.

06

Reporting monthly, in plain language, showing rankings, traffic and what came of it.

What to expect

Local SEO and Google Business Profile work can move within four to eight weeks. Broader rankings take three to six months to shift meaningfully, longer in a competitive city.

That’s not hedging, it’s how search works. Google needs time to see changes, and competitors aren’t standing still. Anyone quoting faster is describing paid ads and calling it SEO.

The upside is that it compounds. A clinic that ranks well in year two doesn’t pay per visit the way it does with PPC, and the rankings tend to hold.

Proof

Seventeen years. Over 300 projects. Most of our work comes from clients who came back, or who told someone else. That’s the whole marketing plan, and it’s the one we’d want for your clinic too.

Questions

It depends on how many services you’re targeting and how competitive your city is. You get a fixed monthly number, not an estimate that drifts.

Referrals are the best patients you’ll get and they’re also finite. SEO reaches the people who’ve decided they want naturopathic care and don’t know anyone to ask, which is most of them.

Yes, and for a single-location clinic it matters more. Local SEO is about appearing in map results for nearby searches. It’s a different set of signals, your Google Business Profile, consistency of your address across the web, local relevance, and it usually moves faster than everything else.

The Google Business Profile, yes, and you should. Individual service pages, yes, if you have time to write them. Technical work and ongoing content is where most clinic owners run out of hours.

Common, and usually the same story: monthly reports full of metrics that don’t mean anything, no clear work being done. Ask any provider what they did last month, specifically. If the answer is vague, that’s your answer.
